This beautiful little family came all the way from Texas to spend Sydney’s (mom) birthday exploring the PNW coast. They decided to get her family photos done while on vacation in the Olympic National Park and got in touch with MEEEE!
Lately, families visiting the Olympic National Park on vacation have been reaching out to me to do their photos, and I could not be happier about it! There are so many incredible locations, and I love showing off what the Washington State coast has to offer. I am never sick of any of it.
We could call this a maternity session, because she was pregnant, but all of my maternity sessions are technically family sessions, because everyone is involved.
We got warmed up for the session by shooting amongst the ferns, river, and old growth forest that surrounded the cabin they rented for their trip. The Olympic National Park is full of breathtaking beauty no matter which direction you head in, but if you can find a place to stay right in the center of it, all you have to do is step outside.
Once Sydney got used to being photographed, we brought out her husband and adorable toddler to join us. We walked around their cabin and let their son feel the ferns and moss while I helped them all get comfortable taking pictures.
From their cabin near the Hoh Rainforest, we set out to La Push Beach for sunset. We made the mistake of commenting on how nice the weather was and a storm blew in to teach us a lesson. We got SOAKED. To the point that we had to put their son in the car to stay warm, and I had to loan Sydney a spare dress I had in my car (thank the gourds!). Just as quickly as the storm rolled in, it rolled out and we were left with rainbows, moody clouds, and eventually the moon.
La Push Beach is one of my favorite places to shoot, and I never try to assume I know what the weather will be like. Just gotta go with the flow, and see what comes out!
If you and your family are planning a trip to Washington State, contact me! I can make it last forever.
